Regular bait species monitoring activities continued between the months of March- May 2022 at the Buzos de Bahia co-op; 124 organisms were sampled

FIP collected octopus size and weight data from ongoing monitoring activities made available in a brief technical report summary; minimum and maximum average mantle lengths were identified from a sample size of 397 organisms.

FIP has requested inspection and surveillance support to uphold the implementation of the fishery closure.

FIP issues discussed at the September committee meeting

Committee formally met September 15, 2020 and issues related to octopus FIP discussed. At said meeting, the degree of compliance with the activities of the semester was presented and the viability and interest of the participants to maintain or modify the committed actions, as well as to keep the octopus FIP active or not, was questioned.

Information was compiled from an ecosystem management proposal with the setting of the octopus fishery and its interaction with other natural resources and the habitat in Bahía de los Ángeles.

Two meetings were held, in July and August 2019, to discuss various topics of the octopus fishery on  strengthening this decision-making mechanism.

The fishermen were regularized in their entirety in Bahía de los Ángeles, therefore, the capture of this species is now legal on the part of all the fishermen who participate in the FIP and also of those who do not participate in it.

A radio communication antenna was installed to have radio frequency coverage throughout the Bahía de Los Ángeles.
