DFO has published the ToR for the 3Ps Atlantic Cod Assessment. 

The FIP conducted the final simulated testing for the draft rebuilding plan; measurable objectives, a rebuilding target and timeline, and performance metrics have been developed.

DFO published the stock assessment of NAFO subdivision 3Ps Cod

TAC decision for 2022/ 2023 released and remains unchanged from the 2021-2022 period.

A technical briefiing has been prepared ahead of the release of the annual stock assesment

A modelling framework meeting including DFO and French scientists and independent reviewers to evaluate the appropriateness of a new stock assessment models for 3Ps cod  - New model incorpated a broader range of data, including commercial landings to 1959, research surveys and sentinel fishery survey.

A collaborative Framework Assessment project between DFO (Canada) and IFREMER (France) has been commenced for the jointly shared 3Ps cod stock.

Increase to PI 1.1.2; DFO has developed a rebuilding plan, and the existing conditions for recovery are suitable for calculating the minimum time required to reach the target if fishing were to cease (Tmin). Monitoring is in progress to assess the effectiveness of the rebuilding strategy within the proposed timeframe.

DFO has made the Conservation Harvesting Plan 2022-2023 available for the 3PS fishery

Fish Stock provisions under the Fisheries Act have come into force which places binding obligations on Fisheries and Oceans Canada to manage certain fish stocks sustainably, and to put rebuilding plans in place when stocks become depleted.

Increase in BMT score 2.3.3; Based on the very few observed harvester interactions (and mandatory release for broadhead and spotted wolffish), it is very likely the overall risk from the fixed gear fisheries is very low. 

Increase in BMT score 2.1.3; The volumes of herring bait used likely meet the MSC requirements for consideration as a main (5%) primary species.

Increase in BMT score 2.3.3;  The bycatch data for UoCs 1, 2 and 3 are representative of each component of the 3Ps cod fishery as a whole.
